The community is ecstatic about The Merge, Ethereum successfully transitioned from Proof-of-Work consensus to Proof-of-Stake and the community celebrated this achievement all day.

However, as you may be aware, a small community of Ethereum enthusiasts and miners have decided to continue the Proof of Work consensus for the network. The Ethereum PoW token is called ETHW and it is active, being traded on several exchanges.

Hence those Ethereum holders who had their ETH on personal wallets now have the exact amount of ETHW tokens. And, many of these users kept asking me how to “claim” these tokens.

Hence I made a quick video to show how to do it. You can watch the video above. If you’re not a video fan, read on as I explain how to do it.

Accessing ETHW tokens with Metamask

Of course, currently, the easiest way to access ETHW tokens is using Metamask. It is quick, the ETHW mainnet is ready and the network can be easily added to Metamask.

As soon as the ETHW network is added, users can see their ETHW balances.

  1. Open your MetaMask wallet

  2. Go to Settings and select Network / Click on the Network on Top

Click on the Network
  1. Click on Add Network

Once you select Networks, you’ll see all the networks that you have added. On the bottom of that menu, you can see a new button named “Add Network”. You may click on it and proceed with adding a new network.
